Funeral Home human remains international shipments.

Documents sent to a foreign country and received by a government agency, law firm, etc have to be legalized.   Birth certificates, marriage, death, divorce, power of attorney, etc.

Sometimes a person dies in the US and the family want to ship them to their country.  There are funeral services that also provides international transportation of human remains, logistics, so the whole process it's fast and efficient.

As far as paperwork the Funeral Home will take care of it.  For example, a loved one died in California and in 72 hours or so there will be a funeral in Michoacan.

There are several documents that have to be signed and seal by several agencies.
1. Certified copy of Death certificate (notarized)
2. Burial/Transit Permit (notarized)
3. Passport of decedent
4. Embalmer's affidavit (notarized)
5. Letter of preparation on funeral home letterhead (notarized
6. Letter of non-contagious disease from Health Department (notarized)
7. Funeral home letter stating: 1) only remains are inside the casket 2) flight itinerary; 3) consignee's name, address, and telephone number;
8. Photocopies of all documents (everything must be translated to Spanish)
9. Must have Apostille
10. Hermetically sealed casket
11. Wood bottom air tray
12. Procedure: Fax over a copy of Death Certificate to consulate so they get started on Visa.  The airlines will NOT ship to an individual, it MUST be a funeral home. They will call the funeral director in Mexico to make certain that he/she is aware of the incoming shipment.
Transport of Cremated Remains
1. Certified copy of Death certificate (notarized) and translated into Spanish
2. Cremation Certificate (notarized and translated)
3. Photocopy of all documents

In general, these are common documents to prepare:
Death Certificate, Burial/Transit Permit Letter of Non-contagious Disease Embalmers Affidavit, Passport of Deceased (if obtainable) Letter on funeral home letterhead stating: that only human remains are inside the casket; the flight itinerary; consignee's name, address, and telephone number.
Although, in my experience, I have translated, apostilled packages for Mexico where passport were not provided and the Consulate of Mexico gave me back the flight itinerary. By the way, the staff at the consulate in Sacramento, California, is very efficient, and provides and excellent customer service.

In Northern California you can contact Paul Wiggins, his funeral home, Kraft Bros Funeral Directors has been in operation since 1869 and has lots of experience providing local services and International shipments in record time.
